Friday

Friday Night Concert

Máirtín O’Connor, Cathal Hayden & Seámie Ó Dowd unite three of Ireland’s greatest trad musicians for an electrifying set of reels and airs. John Spillane, Cork’s beloved singer-songwriter, brings poetic ballads from his acclaimed career and recent award-winning folk-opera Fíoruisce. Feilican, led by local multi-instrumentalist Caoilte Cooney, offers vibrant, fresh interpretations of classic Irish tunes and new compositions inspired by Achill’s rich musical heritage. A night of unforgettable music, powerful storytelling, and the finest in Irish folk tradition.

Saturday Night Festival Gig

Stockton’s Wing return with their legendary blend of Irish trad, folk, and infectious rhythms that made them pioneers of the genre. The Johnny Quinn Macs light up the night with driving jigs, reels, and heartfelt songs, showcasing top-tier traditional musicianship. Pauline Scanlon & The Half Room captivate with emotive vocals, contemporary arrangements, and songs from Pauline’s acclaimed album The Unquiet. Experience an evening of iconic performances and innovative Irish sounds that celebrate tradition while embracing the new.

Sunday

Sunday Chill

Achill artist Graham Sweeney hosts a soothing chill-out session at the Lilli Bán Café at the Bervie, with stunning views of the Minaun Cliffs as a backdrop. This relaxed event offers a chance to wind down after the Dooagh Folk Festival weekend, with laid-back acoustic music and an easygoing atmosphere. A calm and informal afternoon to wrap up the festivities in one of Achill’s most scenic spots.

Followed by Wrap-up BBQ – Venue TBC

Join in a final closing sing-song at the Shark Bar in Keel that evening.

Saturday Day events

Ceol Acla 

A special evening celebrating the rich musical heritage of Dooagh, Achill, and West Mayo. Hosted by renowned local fiddle player Diarmuid Gielty, this event explores the stories, tunes, and traditions that shaped the area’s unique sound, with a special focus on the use of the Irish language in local songs and music. Diarmuid will be joined by special guests who’ll share personal insights on the past and present of our music, perform cherished tunes, and highlight the importance of Gaeilge in preserving and expressing our cultural identity. Ceol Acla promises an intimate, inspiring journey through the vibrant history and living traditions of our community’s music.

Ceol na gCnoc

A Piping Recital from the West Experience the powerful soundscape of Achill’s piping traditions at Ceol na gCnoc, a unique recital celebrating the rich heritage of both Uilleann and bagpiping on the island. The evening opens with performances by talented local Uilleann pipers, showcasing the timeless tunes of Achill’s hills and valleys. Renowned Uilleann piper Leonard Barry will present a solo set featuring his soulful, expressive take on Ireland’s traditional repertoire, offering a masterclass in the rich sound of the Uilleann pipes. Later in the evening, acclaimed Scottish smallpipes virtuoso Brìghde Chaimbeul will take the stage separately with her own captivating solo performance. Known for her hypnotic, boundary-pushing style, Brìghde brings the haunting beauty of the Scottish Highlands to Achill with innovative arrangements rooted in Gaelic traditions. This recital promises a unique journey through two of the world’s most evocative piping.

The Up and Coming

At the heart of the festival is celebrating young talent and sustaining our rich musical heritage. Exceptional uilleann piper Aoife Fadian, an All-Ireland medalist who has performed with Leonard Barry, honours Achill’s piping tradition with brilliance.

Singer-songwriter Bríd McLoughlin, known for honest, original songs rooted in Achill’s spirit, has shared stages with Dermot Kennedy and trad greats. This showcase of vibrant future stars is not to be missed!

The Bodhrán Buzz

Get ready for an irresistible beat at The Bodhrán Buzz, a high-energy bodhrán masterclass and performance led by All‑Ireland champion Robbie Walsh. This lively session invites festival-goers—beginners and experienced players—to experience the magic of Ireland’s iconic drum through workshops, demos, and interactive jam sessions. Based in Achill for past festivals, Robbie brings infectious enthusiasm and expert guidance, turning traditional rhythms into shared celebration
